Typical detailing pricing articles will tell you the national average (no source) or have copied each other’s numbers. So we decided to look at the websites of 30 mobile detailing companies across 21 states and record their prices, how they display them, any additional pricing for pet hair and if they require a deposit.
These aren’t all of the detailers out there, just the 30 we looked at. Prices were read off of websites on October 17th 2026. Below is what we found and some thoughts on what they can mean for your pricing.
Data collection
By searching for mobile detailers in various cities we found each company’s website and looked at their price or services page. No pricing directories or articles were used. All companies we found advertised that they came to the customer.
The companies ranged from Alabama to Washington. With some located in major metro areas such as Phoenix, Tampa and Las Vegas and some in smaller cities like Missoula, Bend and Savannah.
We recorded the lowest detail package each company advertised. We did not include express/quick/refresh/mini packages or packages that are exclusive to returning customers. We also did not consider an exterior price unless it was above a simple car wash (wax/sealant/clay etc.)
The 21 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Washington.

SUV pricing is typically a set amount more
If a company offered a price for a sedan and SUV. Most had a price difference of $10-$50 with a median of around $20 for interiors and $22.50 for full details. 3 companies offered the same price for sedans and midsize SUVs. If a company had third row SUV/van/large truck options they usually had their own higher price.
Displaying your prices
There are many ways that detailers display their pricing. Here are some that we found. Most companies used multiple methods on their website.
- 23 companies priced based on size of vehicle.
- 19 companies had a starting price, a from, or a + symbol. Ex. $150+
- 12 companies had a specific price for at least some services.
- 4 companies showed a price range. Ex. $260-$360
- 3 companies did not show a price for some or all services.
There were probably more companies that did not show prices but since we searched for mobile detailers and looked for their price pages it skewed the results.
There were 18 out of 30 that stated prices may vary based on the vehicle’s condition. Only one company specifically advertised flat prices with no starting price fine print.
Additional pricing for pet hair
22 out of the 30 companies mentioned pet hair and 21 of those said that they would charge additional for it. 13 of those showed a price for pet hair.
- 6 companies showed a price of $15-$50
- 6 companies showed a price range based on severity. Ex. $25-$50, $30-$100, $75-$125
- 1 company stated $25+
The remaining 8 said they would charge for pet hair but did not show a price. Some stated that it would be quoted on site or may increase your price. Many also had sand/mud/stains/biohazard grouped with pet hair.
Travel fee & deposit
Only 4 companies showed a travel fee/mobile fee. One company had a flat $20 fee for all appointments. Another offered a mobile service for +$50. Two companies said that they may have a fee if outside of their area. But did not state a price.
6 companies stated that they needed water and/or power from the customer. 11 said that they provided their own. One offered a waterless wash.
Only one company required a deposit. They had a $50 deposit for weekend appointments. Only one company listed a late cancellation fee of $50. A couple of companies stated that they did not take money until the appointment was completed. Many of these detailers let customers pay after the service. Via cash/Venmo/Zelle/pay link.
Appointment software
Half of the companies used their own website to take appointments or ask for a quote. The rest used Square Appointments (3), Calendly (2), GoHighLevel (2). Acuity, Jobber, Urable, Housecall Pro and BookingKoala were all used by one company. Three companies took appointments over the phone/text.
What this means for your prices
You shouldn’t use the median price as a guideline. As it is just a number based on 30 other businesses. You should use these numbers to help you decide where you fall and what you think you should be charging. Based on your time, costs and desired hourly rate.
But here are some things that you can take away from these prices.
- Show your prices by vehicle size. Most companies do this and it’s what your customers will expect.
- Have a starting price. If something may vary based on the vehicle’s condition it’s best to show a starting price.
- Show that you charge for pet hair. Whether you have a flat rate or a range. Customers will appreciate knowing that upfront.
- Let your customers know if you need anything from them. Water, power, etc.
